“The new privacy feature will prevent users from being added to groups without their permission. This feature is currently being tested on iOS and is expected to roll out soon on Android”

This feature was first spotted by WABetaInfo, this group feature can be tested out by WhatsApp beta users on iOS. This can be done when you download the TestFlight app and join the WhatsApp beta program. This new feature will prevent users from adding other users in their group without their permission.

We tried the app ourselves and took some screenshots of our own.

In order to test this feature out go to Account > Privacy > Groups > Settings. Users will have three options in the section ‘Who can add me to groups’ “Everyone”, “Contact” and “Nobody”.

In our opinion this is a great move by the Facebook owned company. There were a lot of complains of users being added in to groups of which they didn’t want to be a part of. This new feature will give users more control over their privacy and they can avoid being added to any unwanted and inappropriate groups.

As of now there isn’t any word when this update will roll out on all devices.
