Fix Nordvpn Background Process is not Running Error
Has this error “Nordvpn Background Process is not Running” a thorn on your side? Do you want to know how to fix it? You have come to the right place. This error usually shows up when NordVPN or any other VPN providers releases a faulty update. Some Reddit user also brought up this issue in the /r/nordvpn subreddit when NordVPN released their update 3.4.0 on Mac.
As soon as the update was installed the connection failed. Downgrading it back to the previous version didn’t help either.

- Check if the application isn’t already running in the application tray.
- Reinstalling the application.
- Adding exceptions for our application in your antivirus application if you have any.
- Restart your computer.

1001 Error while installing NordVPN
This is the most common error while installing Nordvpn app on Windows 7 and 8 which aren’t updated to the latest versions.
If this error occurs then update your windows and then try installing the application again. Also make sure that your Net Run-time is update to version 4.6.2.
If this error still persists then try disabling your security suite, i.e. your Antivirus and firewall and install the TAP adapter manually and then install the NordVPN application again.
No internet access when connected to the VPN server
Try changing the server you are already connected to or pick a different server of the same country you are connected to in the servers tab. You should also clear your DNS cache from the browser you are currently using. You can go through the steps mentioned on this website: http://www.refreshyourcache.com/
This can also be fixed by disabling your security suite for e.g. your antivirus and firewall.
If the issue persists then try changing your DNS servers while connected to the VPN.
- Go to the settings tab of the NordVPN application.
- Click “Advance Settings” and then click “I Know what I am doing”
- Turn on the Custom DNS.
- Enter 22.214.171.124 after you click “Add another DNS”
- Click on “Add another DNS” one more time and enter 126.96.36.199
- Try connecting again.
If this doesn’t work then try this following solution:
- Go to Command Prompt with administrator rights.
- Then paste the following one by one:
netsh interface show interface
netsh winsock reset
- Restart your computer and try connecting again.
This should solve your connectivity problems. If it doesn’t then try contacting NordVPN’s support team.
